Résumé
Armand Frappier was a pioneering Quebec researcher in microbiology and preventive medicine. In 1938 he founded Institut de microbiologie et d’hygiène de Montréal, the first French-Canadian medical research centre, which was dedicated to research, training, and the manufacture of biologics. Many events transpired at this institution before it became part of Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS). To mark the 75th anniversary of Armand Frappier’s work, we are chronicling the history of Centre INRS–Institut Armand-Frappier in six chapters written byPierre Payment, a professor at the Centre since 1975.
