Résumé

Since the bursting action (action déchainante) of non-toxic filtrates of Cl. perfringens has been revealed, further work has been done on the physical and chemical conditions which ogvern the formation in liquid cultures of the factor capable of initiating gas gangrene in laboratory animals injected with washed bacilli

Moreover, it has been found that filtration on either Berkefeld, Mandler, or Seitz filters invariably absobs or destroys the factor when it is in concentrated solution. It has been impossible to recuperate the absorbed factor from the filters.

The factor has been precipitated from fluid cultures and obtained in powder form.
