Résumé

In most Western democracies, the 2000s were marked by the restructuring of the local government systems. In their various configurations, these reform often contributed to a redefinition of the role of local elected officials, in particular that of the position of mayor...This question is very pertinent in a comparison between Québec abd Wallonia, as these two territories present similarities with regard to their political architecture and, above all, the political challenges they face...The objective of this chapter is to engage in this comparison by examining the mayoral career.
